Beauty Trends of 2021

Congratulations! We finally made it to 2021 after a long year. Who's got the Champagne? While it'll be a while until life returns to normal, there are some glimmers of hope—new beauty trends to look forward to being one of them!

Skinimalism:

We are seeing the “natural” & “skinimalism” look now more than ever! Research shows that natural and skin glowing searches are up more than ever before which makes sense, since many of us are wearing less makeup and spending more time on skin care than ever before. Our personal number one rule for glowing skin is WATER, WATER, WATER.. and more WATER! Head over to our pinterest for natural glam looks as well.

Claw Clips:

Clips of every kind—butterfly, barrettes, pearl encrusted—have been trending all year long, but expect to see more and more this year. Loved by celebs and Insta-girls like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, claw clips are a perfect way to hide hair that hasn't been snipped in months or to add casual polish to a sweatshirt for a Zoom meeting. We have our own claw clip tutorial here.

Fun Liner:

Thanks to masks, researchers also project that fun, unexpected takes on classic eyeliner will dominate in all of 2021. We suggest playing with glitter or mismatched colors, or moving things to the lower lash line. If you want to ease into the trend, stick with a classic cat eye, but swap black for a bold color.

50 Shades of Red:

Blame it on the pink-hair boom of quarantine, but expect to see lots of warmer tones when it comes to hair color. While scarlet and copper are having a moment, the coolest take on red is the almost red shades like peach, cinnamon and strawberry blond. “This color palette frames your facial features with brightness when cold and dreary climates make everything else look dull.” We love warmer tones, follow along with us on Instagram to see our makeup tutorials.

70’s Inspired Hair Styles:

Bangs, shags, layers, and more are popular words coming out of the mouths of hairstylists around the globe. Not ready to go full-force into a curtain bang or shaggy cut? Ask your stylist for long, face-framing layers (this often gets confused with curtain bangs; a curtain bang is a bang, meaning shorter than your eyeballs, while face-framing layers are typically chin-length or a little shorter). You can easily style these in a swoopy way to mimic bangs without having to deal with the short cut (perfect for people who dislike hair in their face, or work out or sweat a lot).
