Interview With The Founder

Q&A with Marsi Hubbard, Brite Beauty Founder.

How did you get your start?

I took cosmetology in high school so when I graduated I went straight to work in the salon. I have always felt passionate about helping women look and be there best. My Brite idea first came to me in 2012 but between the first thought and our launch, the business went through different iterations. Brite Beauty soft launched in April of 2018. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and finally the pull to “just do it” was so strong I could no longer ignore it. I saw a need in the marketplace for beauty clients and bridal clients who desired a trusted, vetted professional team to offer on-location and studio appointments.

  1. What is your favorite part about the work you do?

I love people! I enjoy connecting and working with our team, our clients, and our community. So whether we, as a team, have blessed a bride with beauty for her wedding day, or we’ve filmed a video that inspires the stay-at-home mom to remember she is important and beautiful, I and the team desire to bring inner beauty, out. I personally feel called to empower women.

  2. What is one of your favorite memories in business?

There are too many to name just one, but the stand out memories are ones in which I get to personally connect in a significant way to our clients, team, or community. For example, one great memory is from a client’s wedding. She married on New Year’s Eve in 2019 and she hosted a big celebration after for her family and friends. . As I was doing her hair for the wedding, she invited me to her wedding! My husband and I attended and we had the best time! My hubby captured the sweetest photo of her kissing her new hubby at midnight. I sent it to her the next year, on her anniversary and she loved it!

  3. What advice would you give to other business owners?

There is so much advice I could give but I’ll offer my top three! I say my journey is one of “grit and glam” and here is how that can apply for anyone.

  1. YOU MUST POSSESS GRIT. You have to show up with thick skin everyday no matter how hard it gets and you might as well look damn good doing it, whatever that means for you. Dress for success, even if you’re working from home, in what feels right for your style. Stay ready both in work and appearance.

  2. SHOW UP TO GO UP. You never know what will happen. You never know exactly how the day will turn out, even with great planning, but the key is to show up when you’ve said yes. And in the beginning you need to say yes, a lot! You don’t know what opportunities will be good ones unless you do the work and get out there, online and in-person. Make connections and be a person of your word. Honor your promises, show up for others, and show up in a big way!

  3. COMMIT TO THE COMMITMENT. Someone gave me this advice in my late twenties and it was the best thing I’ve ever heard, then and now. I live by it! In all things, especially in business, you will face challenges, but when you have a clear vision and dream, do not let anything or anyone, especially doubt, stop you from living out your purpose. Listen, your dream may change and take on various forms, but the point is to always be moving in that direction no matter what. No matter how hard. That’s the calling.

  4. Where do you go for inspiration and wisdom?

I have gained so much wisdom from books as well as other entrepreneurs. I honestly cannot think of just one thing a fellow entrepreneur has taught me because there has been so many things, but what I will say is to keep your eyes open and your ears perked. The Universe is always offering opportunity and some of those opportunities come disguised as challenges and “failures.”  I put that in quotes because there is no such thing as ultimate failure unless you decide it so. Mistakes and hardships are there to teach us if we allow it. Grow through it. And the nice thing about connecting with other business leaders is that they can relate to what you are going through and offer you advice in something you are struggling with and vise versa.

I also enjoy scrolling instagram to find beauty, fashion, and bridal posts that inspire me!

  5. If you have a day off, where do you go or what do you do?

I spend time with family and friends. I also love to read, write, and cook.

  6. How do you recharge your personal batteries?

Spending time with friends and/or family. A night out with friends is also a mood booster. And every few weeks I need an afternoon at home, with nothing on the books, just to reset.

  7. Where is your favorite Place to be?

Dallas, TX! To me, it’s the best city in the world and it’s home. I also enjoy spending time in Denver, where our other home is. I love to travel! The beach is my favorite.

  8. What's in your ear right now? (ex. podcast, book, music etc)

I like listening to business audiobooks. I also enjoy listening to personal development podcasts like Jay Shetty and Mel Robbins.
